Lokesh Bhola is in his 19th year of practice and has been extensively involved in advising and imparting legal advisory services to several renowned corporates in Real Estate & Infrastructure, Retail Industry, Pharmaceuticals and Health sectors as well as High Networth Individuals (HNIs) in Real Estate Sector.

Lokesh’s core interest lies in civil and commercial; real estate; arbitration; competiton; consumer and alike laws. Lokesh has successfully advised and represented UAE’s Overseas Bank in India for recovery of their dues from defaulters located in India by opening all fronts available under law.

Lokesh was involved in the successful conclusion of first ever restructuring and acquisition of retail and wholesale businesses of an Indian Retail Corporate House by an Indian Arm of U.S. based Company. He has been efficiently able to handle diverse litigation on behalf of that Retail Giant and to get Corporate Debt Restructuring of the Company approved from High Court of Delhi that resulted into smooth take over of the retail and wholesale business of the Company. In fact, the said deal was being awarded as ‘deal of the year’ in IFLR/Asia Law India Awards, 2012. Lokesh had also been engrossed in two other similar kinds of transactions and had advised Corporates in Pharmaceuticals and Health sectors.

His expertise also lies in handling disputes pertaining to several global and domestic lenders, including (i) Banks, (ii) Institutional lenders, (iii) Asset Reconstruction Companies, and (iv) Non-Banking Finance Companies. He also understands the other end of the equation – having represented corporate borrowers in dispute resolution in a wide range of financial transactions. He has also done some cutting edge work in the field of derivatives against leading banks of India.

Lokesh has also represented the buyers in a complaint before the Competition Commission of India against one of the Giant Real Estate Developer that had resulted into imposition of penalty of Rs.630 Crores for “grossly abusing its dominant position”. Lokesh has successfully represented Regulator of Builders before Competition Commission in an investigation of 21 pan India Realtors, in which role of Regulator was much appreciated throughout the matter.

He has also efficiently represented group of Consumers against several Companies in Class action Consumer disputes before National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission safeguarding the common interest of similar situated consumers in a most effective and economical manner.

With the change brought in the real estate sector by new legislation Real Estate (Development and Regulation) Act, 2016 and subsequently formulated state-wise regulations, he has been rigorously working to address the issues and concerns of various clients (of real estate sector) that includes land owners, builders, lender entities, investors, channel partner entities. He has been assisting several clients, to put in place new procedures and mechanisms and structure real estate projects to ensure that they are compliant with the new laws. The practice also extends to regularly taking up matters under Real Estate (Development and Regulation) Act, 2016 before the regulatory authority in various jurisdictions concerning disputes between homebuyers and builders.

He has been empanelled as Arbitrator with prestigious Delhi International Arbitration Centre, High Court of Delhi. As an Arbitrator as well as Counsel, he has vast experience in handling diverse kinds of domestic and international Arbitration matters for the renowned Corporates and HNIs.

He has been empanelled as Mediator with National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC), New Delhi to assist litigating parties to mediate and resolve their disputes amicably and in cost cost-effective manner.

He has been empanelled with various reputed organisations of Government of India, viz. National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) etc.

He has authored many articles on different legal topics, which were published in renowned legal journals and magazines. He has also been an active participant as well as a speaker at various legal conferences on contemporary legal topics.
